Film Live Action “Rurouni Kenshin” Telah Dikonfirmasi Dan Dibintangi Oleh Sato Takeru

Rumor tentang film live action "Rurouni Kenshin" telah ada sejak musim panas tahan lalu, tapi sekarang proyek itu telah secara resmi dikonfirmasi kebenarannya. Aktor Sato Takeru (22) akan membintangi film tersebut dibawah arahan sutradara Otomo Keishi ("Ryomaden"), dengan produksi Warner Bros.

Film live action ini dijadwalkan akan dirilis pada tahun 2012, meskipun para staf  bertujuan agar membuatnya cukup berhasil untuk melanjutkannya sebagai sebuah serial. Mengingat popularitas "Rurouni Kenshin" di dunia internasional, ada juga harapan kalau film ini akan dirilis di luar Jepang juga.

Manga asli "Rurouni Kenshin" karangan oleh Watsuki Nobuhiro, terbit di Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) mulai tahun 1994 sampai tahun 1999. Cerita manga ini telah dikumpulkan menjadi 28 tankoubon volumes, dan lebih dari 50 juta copies buku telah dicetak. Manganya telah diterjemahkan dan dirilis di 23 negara, dan sebuah adaptasi  anime TV sukses keluar pada tahun 1996.

Sato mengakui bahwa ada "tantangan yang sangat tinggi" untuk menghidupkan image dari karakter yang sudah menjadi ikon semua orang. Namun, Watsuki berkomentar bahwa ketika proyek ini baru dimulai, dia berdiskusi dengan istrinya tentang siapakah yang mereka pikir harus memainkan karakter Kenshin, dan Sato berada pada #1 daftar mereka.

Persiapan untuk proyek ini dimulai 3 tahun yang lalu dan Sato ditawari peran tersebut setelah penampilannya di "Ryomaden." Proses syuting untuk film live action  "Rurouni Kenshin" direncanakan mulai dilakukan pada bulan Juli mendatang.

Wow……… Sato Takeru dipilih langsung oleh pengarang manga Rurouni Kenshin, Watsuki Nobuhiro
