Drama ini adalah kisah kehidupan anggota penyelamat dari penjaga pantai. Drama ini didasarkan pada tugas khusus dari petugas Coast Guard Korea (penyelamatan, ancaman terorisme, dan misi khusus lainnya) dan juga kendala mereka dalam kehidupan dan cinta. Drama ini mengambil namanya dari Tim Poseidon, sebuah unit pasukan khusus dari Marinir. Menggunakan ikatan yang kuat sebagai dasar kemanusiaan, dan melalui tantangan yang dihadapi oleh para tokoh protagonis dan semangat mereka dengan pengorbanan diri, drama mengharukan yang menunjukkan pentingnya kehidupan dan kisah tentang bagaimana orang mengatasi hambatan dalam hidup.

Kim Sun-woo (Choi Si-won), yang menghabiskan hari-hari sekolahnya sebagai biang kerok, memutuskan untuk membuat perubahan dalam hidupnya dan bergabung dengan tim laut khusus, yang disebut Poseidon. Sun-woo bekerja sebagai komandan dengan posisi yang menjanjikan, tapi dia tiba-tiba terjerat dalam insiden buruk setelah 2 tahun. Dia diturunkan dan dikirim ke kantor polisi maritim di  kota Gunsan. Gairah Sun-woo mendingin dan ia perlahan-lahan kehilangan visinya sebagai polisi maritim. Lalu suatu hari, Jung-ryul (Lee Sung-jae), yang telah membentuk bagian penyelidikan kejahatan baru di kota Incheon, mengunjungi Sun-woo dan meminta dia untuk bergabung dengan tim.
