Jang Geun-seok baru-baru ini membuat berita dengan menyumbangkan $ 1.200.000 USD untuk Universitas Hanyang. Awal bulan ini, dia telah mengungkapkan untuk memiliki sumbangan lainnya sebesar $ 30.000 USD.

Setelah mendengar kasus mereka, Jang Geun-seok menutupi biaya yang tersisa dan membantu panti asuhan tersebut untuk menyelesaikan pembangunan, yang memungkinkan anak-anak untuk menghabiskan musim dingin yang sehat di lingkungan yang hangat.

Pada 28 Desember 2011, agensinya menyatakan, "Setelah mendengar tentang panti asuhan, Jang Geun seok-ssi sangat khawatir tentang keselamatan anak-anak. Dia ingin membantu di salah satu cara kecil yang dia bisa dan menyampaikan sumbangan kepada mereka. Dia senang bahwa mereka semua hangat dan aman dan sebenarnya bersyukur kepada mereka".
